Interior design and decoration are two related but different concepts in the field of interior design.
Interior design refers to the comprehensive process of designing and planning interior spaces, taking into account functional, aesthetic and technical aspects. Interior designers work to create spaces that are efficient, safe and aesthetically pleasing. This involves the selection and distribution of furniture, lighting planning, the design of coverings and finishes, among other aspects. Interior design focuses on optimizing space and creating environments that adapt to the client's needs and preferences.
On the other hand, decoration focuses more on the aesthetic and ornamental elements of a space. Decorators are responsible for selecting and combining decorative elements, such as furniture, curtains, rugs, accessories and works of art, to beautify and personalize a space. Decorating focuses on adding style, color and texture to an existing space, without making structural or design changes.
In summary, interior design deals with the comprehensive design of interior spaces, addressing functional and aesthetic aspects, while decoration focuses mainly on the selection and arrangement of decorative elements to beautify a space. Both aspects are important in interior design, and often work together to achieve satisfactory results.
